Hello, my name is Alex Reed, I'm the interim executive headteacher at Collyhurst Nursery School. I started at the school in January 2022 as interim headteacher, following the retirement of the previous headteacher. My substantive role is as the headteacher of Manchester Communication Primary Academy, which is part of the Greater Manchester Academies Trust. The school is supported by the trust, but as nursery schools cannot become academies, it cannot join. 

 

Since February 2023, Nicola Burton has been the interim head of school and leads on the day to day operation of the school. 

 

Collyhurst Nursery School (MCPA) is an inclusive, nurturing school in Collyhurst, an area of significant social deprivation. Our school has a vibrant and diverse community which has high levels of international new arrivals, children with English as an Additional Language and children with Special Educational Needs. We believe that this makes the tapestry of our school richer; additional barriers to learning are not excuses, they are reasons for us to do even better.

 

As the tender holder for a neighbourhood of children's centres (Collyhurst, Moston, Miles Platting and Newton Heath), we are at the forefront of early family support in the area. Our relationships with parents and carers are excellent, as is the range of support we can offer them. We are proud to be able to make a difference at a family and community level.
